Headmistress Birgit Möllers and the chairman of the orchestra school Dirk Föcker are pleased to present the development of their cooperation to the members of the Sparkassen Trust.

23 pupils from primary school are educated in playing the recorder, guitar, violin, trumpet or clarinet. „The children are tought in small groups“ explains Birgit Möllers and she adds that this is made possible by additional teachers from the orchestra school. The children are excited now as they are asket to play a few tunes for the guests.

The cooperation between primary school and orchestra school – being part of the Musikkapelle- was launched last year with support of the political community Heiden. „It is meant to complete the music lessons at primary school not to be in competition with it“, comments Dirk Föcker. „Making music together improves the social behaviour and children become good teamplayers“, Dirk Föcker is sure of.

The instruments – especially suitable for children – could be bought due to a donation of 5.000 EURO of the Sparkassen Trust for the district of Borken.

„It’s a great project“ confirms the chairman of the Sparkasse Dr. Wild. He enjoys seeing the enthusiasm with which the kids play their instruments.

Due to the generous contribution of the Sparkassen Trust the project can be enhanced. The pupils get the chance to take the borrowed instruments home which enables them not just to play at school but also practice at home.

The chairman of the local Sparkasse Stefan Sühling emphasizes that their donations are focused especially on education for children.

All members of the cooperation are looking forward to an oncoming event: the combined performance of a musical on the 7th and 8th November this year. „That will become a highlight for everybody involved“, says the chairman of the orchestra school Dirk Föcker.
